State Leadership Announces Funding For Texas School Systems To Support In-Person Instruction

Governor Greg Abbott and the Texas Education Agency (TEA) announced today that the State of Texas will provide a "hold harmless" to Texas school systems for the rest of the 2020-2021 academic school year only. Public Health Planning Guidance

This guidance addresses:
  • On campus and virtual instruction
  • Administrative activities by teachers, staff, or students that occur on school campuses or virtually
  • Non-UIL extracurricular sports and activities
  • Any other activities that teachers, staff, or students must complete that cannot be accomplished virtually
  • Visits by parents and the general public
As a result of the lifting of the order on masks, TEA has updated its Public Health Guidance. Under this updated guidance, a public school system’s current practices on masks may continue unchanged. Local school boards have full authority to determine their local mask policy.
